EPILOGUE

Here is the end of my post and I want to thank Mike for being great during this semester. And I can see that I make quiet a huge disappointment during this semester. Therefore, I would like to apologise for my lack of motivation and my never-show-progress habit.

Once again, THANK YOU and SORRY.

SKETCHUP2

However, we have to build it based on real life size. It doesn't have to be exact but at least you got the shape right.
So, this is my second shot.

SKETCHUP

Apparently, without any early notice, we have to make the venue of our event. And you have to do it in SketchUp. After that, we have to put it on photoshop to match it with the real place. Which means, we are in trouble, because first, we don't know how to use sketch up and second, there is no way we want to go to Sunway Lagoon just to take photos. The tickets costs RM90 per person, not to mention it's RM120 for foreigner like me. Discrimination.

Well, put that aside, I am lucky I got friend from Interior Architecture. So, I ask him to teach me a bit about SketchUp. And this is what I came up with at first.

MICROSITE

Our second project will be microsite. We are required to create an event. I'm in a group with Syafiq and Kelvin.

Long story short, we decided to do an underwater dining event. The inspiration come from a world record breaking where people eat underwater. It sounds impossible. But apparently, there is a way to eat underwater. However, of course don't try it without some professionals watching you. Or you will end up eaten by water instead, well, that's lame.

Anyway, for this event, the main purpose is to break the last world record, other than that, it is for fundraising purpose. We decided to name it "Scubite" which come from "Scuba" as in diving and "Bite" as in eating. The event will be held in Sunway Lagoon, which of course will make it sponsored by Sunway as well. And the donation goes straight to Jeffrey Cheah Foundation.

For the microsite, we got rejected multiple times, which caused by, again, no progression. After that, I do the microsite by myself.

My main concept is underwater, so, the more you scroll down, the darker the background will become. For the link, I use bubble, which I think it represents water(?) and when you click on it, the bubble will burst and ill send you to the other page. Apparently, Mike said it's too 80's. meh. For the phone apps, I also use the same concept. Here it is.

POSTER REVISION

The last poster which apparently got rejected and I have to redo it all over again. I know it was my fault that I did not show any progression.
Anyway, for this project, I change my concept from typography to something subliminal, since Mike said that I have to make people understand that what kind of event this is, and try to make people curious about it, which typography, in his opinion, will not do the job.
So, for this poster, I will put 2 layers of images, the first layer is split into 2 so that you can open it in order to see the second image.

The purpose of the tagline "Can you survive this?" is to make people curious about it and to make people feel that they were challenged.
I use multiply layers in the guy so he looks a bit more like a game characters.

This is what it looks like when finished

EVENT POSTERS

Event Poster Progression - Outcome

For this first assignment, we are required to create a poster for an event. Our lecturer told us to do something different, something that no one has done. So, for this one I will create a game promotion event, this game is about surviving in an island. Quiet common, it is. Therefore, I try to do something different, I came up with an idea where in this game promotional event, there will be a man-build survival arena. It is intended so that all the gamers who came to the promotional event can feel directly how it is like to try to stay alive in an unknown island. The arena will be based on some part of the island in the game.
In this assignment, since I love typography, I also want to play on words in the poster, so I experimented to do a face typography, which will turn into the main characters face. To be honest, I quiet like the outcome.

Here are some pictures:
